Summary: The Clinical Informatics Specialist serves as a critical liaison between clinical operations and information technology, ensuring the effective implementation, optimization, and sustained adoption of electronic health records (EHR) and digital health solutions. This role collaborates with clinicians, Epic application teams, Information Services, training, analytics, and operational leaders to align technology with clinical workflows, supporting safe, efficient, and evidence-based care delivery.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead or support the configuration, enhancement, and maintenance of clinical technology systems, prioritizing alignment with clinical workflows for efficiency and safety.
  2. Collaborate with clinicians, IT, and operations to assess user needs, define requirements, and deliver technology solutions that enhance usability and patient safety.
  3. Participate in build governance, project prioritization, and release planning to ensure technology initiatives are aligned with organizational and clinical priorities.
  4. Identify and advocate for standardization of clinical processes, documentation, and system configurations to promote best practices across departments.
  5. Assess, map, and redesign clinical workflows with frontline staff to optimize technology integration and minimize workflow disruption.
  6. Ensure clinical content within systems is accurate, relevant, and aligned with workflows to support effective patient care.
  7. Promote adoption of evidence-based practices through system design and process alignment.
  8. Provide expert-level support for clinical end users, addressing complex issues and recommending system or process improvements.
  9. Work with training, education, and operations teams to design, deliver, and evaluate user training programs for technology adoption.
  10. Develop and implement strategies to drive technology adoption and digital proficiency across the organization.
  11. Monitor usage metrics, analyze adoption trends, and track KPIs related to clinical quality, safety, compliance, and operational outcomes.
  12. Support development and interpretation of clinical reports to empower data-driven decision-making.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: Bachelors degree in a clinical discipline (e.g., Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physical Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or other allied health profession) required. Masters degree in Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Business, or related field preferred.
  2. Graduate of an accredited clinical education program relevant to the candidates specialty.
  3. Licensure: Current, active professional license or certification to practice in the state of Ohio.
  4. Certification: Informatics, Epic, or healthcare technology-related certification preferred.
  5. Years of relevant experience: Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in a healthcare setting required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in informatics, process improvement, or comparable experience preferred.
  6. Years of supervisory experience: N/A
