Job Description

About the Role
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Division of Psychiatry within the Department of Pediatric Medicine.
This is a clinically focused faculty position within a multidisciplinary pediatric oncology setting. The role offers the opportunity to provide longitudinal, team-based psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and young adults with serious medical illness.
This position is particularly well suited for a child psychiatrist who values thoughtful, relationship-based care, close interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful clinical work within an academic medical environment that prioritizes patient care and education.
Clinical Environment
The Division of Psychiatry partners closely with a robust psychosocial team that includes psychology, neuropsychology, social work, child life, music therapy, spiritual care, and case management, alongside oncology, hematology, infectious disease, and other pediatric subspecialties.
Psychiatric care at St. Jude reflects the full breadth of child and adolescent psychiatry within a medically complex setting, including:
Because many patients and families remain in Memphis for months or years during treatment, psychiatrists are able to develop continuity of care and sustained therapeutic relationships-something that is often limited in traditional consult-liaison models.
Care is delivered collaboratively, with shared responsibility across disciplines. Psychiatrists are supported in navigating the emotional complexity of this work within a strong, team-oriented culture.
Faculty Track & Academic Setting
This position is part of St. Jude's Clinical Faculty Track, which is designed for physicians whose primary professional identity is clinical care and teaching.
Faculty in this track devote the majority of their effort to direct patient care, with flexibility to engage in:
This is not a grant-driven research position, and independent research funding is not required. Scholarly work is supported when it grows naturally out of clinical or educational interests.
Teaching opportunities include bedside and interdisciplinary teaching, trainee supervision, and participation in seminars and conferences at St. Jude and affiliated institutions.
Professional Growth & Support
Prior experience in pediatric oncology is welcome but not required. Interest in learning within this setting, comfort with interdisciplinary care, and a collaborative approach are most important.
