Job Description:

We are seeking a visionary Clinical Director to oversee psychiatric care within Georgia's premier maximum-security forensic facility. This is a rare opportunity to apply your organizational leadership and forensic expertise to a mission-critical public service operation.

In this role, you will direct inpatient treatment and evaluations for individuals within the criminal justice system. If you are a clinician-leader dedicated to delivering high-quality, continuous active treatment in a secure setting, we invite you to lead our team.

DBHDD - Who We Are

Established in 2009 by the Governor and General Assembly, the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) operates state hospitals and provides community-based services statewide through contracted partners. Our mission is to lead an accountable and effective continuum of care, supporting all Georgians with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities. As Georgia's vital public safety net, our vision is to ensure easy access to high-quality care that guides the uninsured and underinsured people we serve toward a life of recovery and independence.

Central State Hospital (CSH), is a 182-bed maximum secure forensics facility which provides state of the art multi-disciplinary services including psychiatric evaluation, treatment and recovery services for people referred from the state's criminal justice and corrections systems. In addition, CSH provides staff-supervised residential homes in the community serving individuals with behavioral health disorders (Central Care Community Services). Central State Hospital is proud to be continuously accredited by the Joint Commission since 1983.

Services and Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager of Healthcare Services, you will bridge the gap between clinical excellence and operational efficiency. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement long-term goals and policies that define the future of forensic mental health in Georgia.
  • Clinical Oversight: Direct the delivery of health services to ensure they are adequate, accessible, and compliant with Joint Commission and APA standards.
  • Team Empowerment: Lead, mentor, and hire a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage human resources, participate in budget administration, and modernize care through the integration of diagnostic technology and data-driven assessments.
  • Program Innovation: Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, adapting strategies to meet the evolving needs of the criminal justice and public health systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree + 4 years of healthcare management experience
  • Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) and licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law and three (3) years of experience at the lower level Physician 3 (HCP162) or position equivalent.

Preferred Candidates Will Possess:

  • Board Certification in Psychiatry with completion of an ACGME residency.
  • Active Licensure to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.
  • Proven track record in a Senior-level Psychiatric leadership role.
  • Substantial experience supervising other Psychiatrists.
  • Deep functional knowledge of Joint Commission and APA standards.

Join Our Team

We prioritize providing 24/7 care to individuals while offering structure and work-life balance for our teams. We understand that a happy and supported team is essential for delivering high-quality care. By fostering a supportive environment with work-life balance, we empower our team members to bring their best to serve those in need. We are inspired by the dedication and passion of our team members and take seriously our responsibility to ensure everyone feels supported, prepared, and encouraged to contribute to our mission and vision.

As a DBHDD employed team member you will receive:

  • Exceptional vacation leave plan
  • 15 days each year for first 5 years of service,
  • 18 days each year from 5-10 years of service, and
  • 21 days each year for 10 + years of service.
  • 13 paid state holidays, and 1 educational leave day.
  • Sick leave accrual at a rate of 10 hours per month or 15 days each year.
  • 3 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Your choice from our healthcare plan options for you and your family, including support in the activation of a healthcare savings account.
  • Dental, vision, life, dependent life, legal, and disability insurance program options.
  • Healthcare and childcare spending accounts
  • Wellness incentive program.
  • Continued Education opportunities and access to a comprehensive library of on-line professional development courses.
  • DBHDD is a Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program qualified employer.
  • Retirement Pension and 401(K) with company match.

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) and licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law and three (3) years of experience at the lower level Physician 3 (HCP162) or position equivalent.
