Clinical Director Job Description


Position Overview


A Clinical Director MUST have a clinical license as a Social Worker or Professional Counselor. The Clinical Director oversees clinical operations, staff management, and regulatory compliance in the organization. They ensure high-quality patient care, develop policies, and maintain accurate records. Their leadership drives improvement and supports the organization’s success.


The Clinical Director will be responsible for but not limited to:


  • Overseeing daily service provision with direct care staff & daily operations of the office.
  • Providing training to all new employees of AGAPE.
  • Providing comprehensive training for staff of AGAPE (general training and clinical training).
  • Providing training to therapists to complete client intakes.
  • Providing oversight of evidence-based training and consultation for AGAPE medical staff.
  • Reviewing clinical documentation for relevance and accuracy of diagnosis per DSM-5 and admission.
  • Maintaining relationships with referral sources and other partnering agencies.
  • Assuring that referrals received are completed correctly, meeting the service requirements.
  • Overseeing completion of Initial and Concurrent Authorizations, and accuracy of AGAPE discharges and data entry.
  • Reviewing files for proper documentation (Notes/Assessments/IRP/Intake Packets etc.).
  • Providing supervision to direct care staff pertaining to service delivery, documentation submission, etc.
  • Conducting quality documentation review for direct care staff.
  • Managing administrative staff in relation to quality assurance activities (Quality Calls/ Surveys).
  • Handling service delivery, communication, and other problems between clients, families, and counselors.
  • Communicating with Executive Director, Human Resources, Quality Director, and Rehabilitation Specialist.

  • Assigning cases to staff and monitoring employee caseloads.
The Clinical Director will:


  • Devise strategies and plans for the clinical department according to company standards for excellent service and growth.
  • Assume responsibility for budgeting and resourcing.
  • Plan and oversee all patient care or administrative operations and programs.
  • Recruit employees to ensure the department is staffed with qualified personnel.
  • Assign cases and create schedules for all employees.
  • Coordinate and supervise staff, providing constructive feedback.
  • Provide personnel with clinical training and opportunities for continuous development.
  • Evaluate performance and discipline employees when necessary.
  • Monitor compliance with legal guidelines, internal policies, and quality standards.
Level of Education/Training/Qualifications:


The Clinical Director must have:


  • Have at minimum a Licensure (LCSW-C or LCPC).
  • Have 5 years of work experience in management and a Mental Health Agency that provides services to clients with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
  • Be able to work 40 hours a week.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office.
