    A growing behavioral healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to provide leadership and oversight of all clinical operations within a substance use disorder treatment program.

    This is a key leadership position responsible for maintaining clinical excellence, supervising multidisciplinary treatment teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving positive client outcomes. The ideal candidate is an experienced clinician and proven leader with a strong background in addiction treatment and behavioral healthcare.

    Position Overview

    The Clinical Director will oversee all clinical programming, therapeutic services, documentation standards, and treatment planning while partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. This individual will mentor clinical staff, support program development, and maintain compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and supervision to therapists, counselors, and clinical staff

    • Oversee clinical programming, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic services

    • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation

    • Monitor quality assurance initiatives and clinical outcomes

    • Lead multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews

    • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing clinical teams

    • Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements, Joint Commission standards, and organizational policies

    • Partner with executive and medical leadership to support operational excellence

    • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and best practices

    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous clinical improvement

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health discipline

    • Must hold an active, unrestricted Virginia independent clinical license, such as:

      • LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)

      • LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)

      • LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist)

      • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD)

      • Comparable Virginia independent behavioral health license authorized for independent practice (Virginia Law)

    • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in addiction treatment and/or behavioral healthcare

    • Previous Clinical Director or comparable clinical leadership experience REQUIRED

    • Extensive experience in substance use disorder treatment

    • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, documentation standards, and accreditation requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Residential addiction treatment experience

    • Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder experience

    • Experience with Joint Commission accreditation and Virginia licensing standards

    • Experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams

    • Strong knowledge of evidence-based addiction treatment practices
