Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Quality/Regulatory 

Patient Care and Safety 

  • Utilizes nutrition screening tools to appropriately identify patients at nutrition risk. 

  • Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process for the assessment, diagnosis, intervention, development, and monitoring and evaluation of patients. 

  • Initiates nutrition assessment and nutrition care plans utilizing extensive knowledge and expertise in the Nutrition Care Process for patients with complex medical conditions, including critically ill patients and those on enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support. 

  • Provides nutrition counseling for inpatients and outpatients as indicated. 

  • Adheres  to nutrition care guidelines, nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidenced based nutrition care. 

 

Performance Improvement 

  • Participates in interdisciplinary team approach including medical rounds as assigned.  

  • Participates in departmental committees, work groups, and performance improvement projects as assigned.  

 

  1. Human Resources 

Recruitment  

  • Participates in the interviewing process of potential dietitians. 

Education, Development & Retention 

  • Participates incompetency assessment process and self-evaluation to establish professional goals and development of plan emphasizing area of specialization as appropriate. 

  • Pursues goals and professional development to maintain a high level of competency in nutrition care. 

  • Ensures compliance with registration and licensure requirements. 

  • Provides education and training of dietetic interns, diet technicians, healthcare students, residents, and allied health professionals in clinical nutrition as assigned. 

  • Mentors and coaches dietetic professionals and fosters their critical thinking skills. 

 

  1. Service 

Patient Service 

  • Maintains a focus on patient-centered care and positive patient/family experiences. 

 

  1. Technology: 

HCA / Computer Systems 

  • Utilizes HCA hardware and software including Meditech and Computrition Nutrition Care Management program.  

 

Additional Responsibilities:  

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Checklist. Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan. 

  • Integrates ethics in all areas of practice. Adheres to confidentiality and patient’s rights policies. 

  • Supports the facilities’ mission and values. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

What qualifications you will need:


  • (RD-STATE) Registered Dietitian - State must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Bachelors Degree
