Position Overview
The Clinical Dietitian will be responsible for evaluating patients' nutritional needs, developing individualized nutrition care plans, providing medical nutrition therapy, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients across multiple care settings
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on patient diagnoses and needs
- Provide inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on nutrition-related disease management and healthy lifestyle practices
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition interventions as appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide nutrition support and counseling for patients with chronic diseases and specialized dietary needs
- Support dialysis, long-term care, acute care, swing bed, and outpatient populations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient wellness programs
- Stay current on evidence-based nutrition guidelines and best practices
- Serve as a nutrition resource for healthcare staff and community education efforts
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Licensed or eligible for dietitian licensure and registration in the State of Montana
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy
- Strong understanding of nutrition assessment, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate individuals from diverse backgrounds and education levels
- Valid driver's license required
- Strong organizational, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing clinical nutrition services in hospital, outpatient, dialysis, or long-term care settings
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
- Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Passion for patient education and preventative healthcare initiatives
