Under limited supervision, the Healthcare Program Coordinator oversees the Community Training Center and coordinates continuing education and workforce training programs. The Coordinator teaches in the American Heart Association (AHA) classroom and skills-lab settings as needed, manages program compliance and records, and assists with curriculum development, community and clinical partnerships, and student support.
What Youll Do
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Community Training Center and assigned healthcare programs, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and applicable external requirements.
- Deliver instruction in AHA classroom and skills-lab settings and provide coverage for instructors as needed.
- Assist with program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities, including conducting needs assessments and supporting the growth and success of academic and workforce education programs.
- Support curriculum review and updates, course development, policy and procedure implementation, and the expansion, enhancement, and creation of existing and new programs and initiatives as needed.
- Plan and schedule practical training rotations and coordinate partnerships with community and clinical sites; manage agreements and site requirements.
- Prepare and maintain program records and reports (attendance rosters, grade reports, training records, annual summaries) and ensure timely submission to appropriate offices.
- Develop lesson plans, syllabi, assessments, and lab activities related to AHA programming; evaluate participant performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage procurement, maintenance, and inventory of supplies, equipment, and instructional materials for classes and labs.
- Support student recruitment events and fairs, advising, career guidance, and job placement activities.
- Coordinate required training and orientation activities for partners and participants in accordance with partner policies.
- Conforms to the health requirements/screening for clinical agencies and presents a certificate of health as requested.
- Maintain engagement with relevant professional organizations and stay current on best practices and instructional methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.

What We Are Looking For
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; at least two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience; current Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of nurse aide education, clinical practices, instructional methods, curriculum development, and applicable healthcare education standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of program administration, including course scheduling, instructor coordination, clinical-site partnerships, student records, budgeting, reporting, and resource management.
- Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and assess student competency and program effectiveness.
- Ability to supervise, train, support, and evaluate instructors and staff while promoting accountability, effective communication, and consistent application of College policies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, solve problems, and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, employees, healthcare professionals, clinical partners, patients, and the public, including during stressful or sensitive situations.
Additional Information
Work Environment: Work is performed in office, classroom, laboratory, clinical, and healthcare settings. Regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, patients, healthcare professionals, clinical partners, and the public. May involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, hazardous materials, medical equipment, and other conditions commonly associated with healthcare environments. Appropriate personal protective equipment and established safety and infection-control procedures must be followed. May include exposure to moderate noise, frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and situations requiring timely responses and sound judgment. Local travel between College facilities and affiliated clinical or training sites may be required.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and a variety of medical and instructional equipment, including computers, medical monitors, stethoscopes, diagnostic instruments, and IV-related equipment.
- Physical-demand level exceeding sedentary work and frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, grasping, and using fine motor skills for extended periods.
- Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and perform or demonstrate clinical procedures.
- Requires adequate visual acuity, depth and peripheral perception, color discrimination, hearing, and verbal communication to observe clinical conditions, interpret information, identify equipment or safety concerns, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to perceive characteristics such as size, shape, temperature, and texture through touch.
NOTE: Technical Education and Health Science disciplines require the additional ability to:
- Frequently lift or carry up to 50-70 pounds
- Perform extended periods of bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing
- Wear specialized safety gear and withstand varied environmental conditions
Normal Working Hours: Standard schedule, Monday - Friday; hours may vary according to instructional, laboratory, clinical, and program needs. May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or other nontraditional hours. Occasional schedule adjustments, extended hours, and travel may be necessary to support clinical rotations, student activities, meetings, training, and program requirements.
