Contract Specialist / Clinical Contract Negotiator

Location: Charlottesville, VA (Onsite but open to hybrid 3x per week)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Specialist / Clinical Contract Negotiator to join a growing healthcare contracting team supporting a complex, multi-site healthcare environment. This position plays a critical role in negotiating and managing contracts that support clinical operations, vendor partnerships, and strategic initiatives across the organization.

This is a senior-level opportunity best suited for professionals with healthcare contracting, strategic sourcing, procurement, legal operations, or contract negotiation experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex stakeholder environments, evolving regulations, and rapidly changing business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation, review, and execution of clinical, operational, vendor, and service agreements
• Partner with operational leaders, supply chain teams, clinical stakeholders, legal teams, and vendors to facilitate contract execution
• Analyze contract terms, pricing structures, business requirements, and risk exposure
• Support contract lifecycle management processes, documentation, and compliance activities
• Provide strategic guidance regarding contract language, business terms, and negotiation strategies
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and contracting best practices
• Participate in process improvement initiatives, system implementations, and contract management modernization efforts
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting within contract management platforms
• Support multiple service areas and stakeholders simultaneously while managing competing priorities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree required
• 10+ years of relevant experience in contract negotiation, procurement, strategic sourcing, legal operations, or contract administration
• Experience working in healthcare, hospital systems, academic medical centers, highly regulated industries, or similarly complex environments
• Strong contract review, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities simultaneously
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business needs, regulations, and organizational priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare contracting experience
• Clinical background (RN, allied health professional, etc.)
• Strategic sourcing experience
• Procurement experience
• Paralegal or legal contract administration experience
• Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platform experience
• Workday experience
• ERP implementation or business transformation experience
• Experience with contract automation tools and technologies
