Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated pre-medical student to join our team as a Clinical Assistant at our Tolan Park Clinic and 400 Mack Multispecialty Clinic in Detroit. In this role, you will work closely with our faculty physicians and clinic staff, gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

No prior experience is required, as training will be provided. However, applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of six months in this position.

Job Description:

Job Summary:

This Clinical Assistant will assist Physicians with testing, examinations, education, and treatment of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Greet and escort patients to examination rooms; take detailed medical history
•    Take and enter into medical record patients’ vital signs; alert physician or nurse of any abnormalities
•    Perform testing and/or sample collection including blood draws, electrocardiograms, injections, cultures, biopsies, urinalyses, etc.; ensure all collected samples are properly labeled and transported in a timely fashion
•    May assist physician with medical procedures
•    Follow-up/track receipt of results from tests and procedures ordered by the physician
•    Check encounter forms, diagnostic laboratory forms and physician orders on patients’ records for accuracy and completeness
•    Perform clerical duties (photocopying, data entry, faxing, e-mailing, ordering supplies, etc.)
•    Perform reception duties including answering telephones and taking and relaying messages
•    Establish and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the department and/or practice

Education:

•    Pre-medical student at their junior year of college, completed most of the pre-medical courses

Working Conditions/Schedule:

•    At least 16 hours a week, days to be determined by the business needs
