About this Position
Principal Faculty support the Program Director in ensuring all aspects of the Program meet the Standards of Accreditation set forth by the ARC-PA. Principal faculty also ensure curriculum is consistent with current practice standards as it relates to the PA role in providing patient care and Oklahoma State University policies. This position is a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track. This position is considered Principal Faculty for the Physician Assistant Program. The Director of Admissions is responsible for the development of admissions policies and procedures. They are responsible for ensuring the admissions process follows guidelines set forth by the ARC-PA as well as OSU.
Responsibilities
Administrative responsibilities, Required
Assists in aligning programmatic operations with accreditation standards
Participates in program evaluation and assessment activities
Assists in reviewing and revising the program’s mission, goals, and competencies
Academic Responsibilities, Required
Evaluates student progress and performance at regular intervals
Assures the availability of remedial instruction
Provides academic counseling and advising to students
Provides classroom and laboratory instruction
Assist the Program Director in aligning the admissions process with institutional best practices and accreditation standards
Directs student recruitment
Lead the applicant review and selection process
Orients matriculating students to OSU and the Program
Chairs the Admissions Committee
Participate in program review and assessment activities
Implements the program defined assessment plan for the admissions data
Service, Required
Participates in student recruitment and the admission review and selection process
Advocates for the Program within the University, community clinical partners, as well as state and national organizations
Serves on committees, both internal and external to the institution, as approved by the program director
Clinical Practice, recommended but not required
Provide medical care within an OSU sponsored clinic
Dedicated to serving as a PA student preceptor
Required Qualifications
Master's
Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Clinical experience of two or more years working full-time as a physician assistant
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
NCCPA certification
ACLS, BLS, PALS certification, recommended but not required
Current State License preferably with current DEA, OBNDD license
Preferred Qualifications
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Teaching experience, with an emphasis in PA education
Knowledge and understanding of PA program organization and administration
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Leadership skills demonstrated by participation in local, regional or national PA programs
