Summary:

Title: Manager, Clinic Staffing

Department: Call Coverage/Operations

Job Description:

UMC Physicians is looking for Clinic Staffing Manager oversees the staffing needs of a healthcare clinic, ensuring optimal personnel allocation. They play a critical role in recruitment, training, and maintaining a skilled workforce to meet clinic requirements.

Preferred Characteristics:

Leadership & Interpersonal

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with clinical and administrative staff
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop team members
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative approach to working across departments

Organizational & Operational

  • Proficiency in staffing or workforce management software
  • Experience with scheduling in a high-volume or fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to anticipate staffing needs and proactively address gaps
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping

Adaptability & Judgment

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure or in urgent situations
  • Flexibility to respond to last-minute scheduling changes or emergencies
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive personnel matters

Compliance & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, credentialing requirements, and labor laws
  • Understanding of clinical roles and licensure requirements across departments
  • Experience with onboarding and orientation processes for clinical staff

Availability Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week
  • 8AM-5PM Monday - Friday, on call outside of office hours

Essential Functions:

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Staffing Assessment: Evaluate clinic staffing needs and determine recruitment strategies.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Interview and hire new clinic employees, ensuring alignment with clinic standards.
  • Training and Development: Train staff on clinic policies, procedures, and compliance.
  • Scheduling and Shift Management: Create work schedules, manage shifts, and address staffing gaps.
  • Performance Evaluation: Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues.
  • Budget Compliance: Contribute to staffing decisions, budget planning, and cost-effective staffing solutions.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and workforce management tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, human resources, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in staffing, recruitment, or workforce management preferred.

Environmental Conditions:

Works in a well-lit, heated and ventilated building. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens is of low risk. Hours of duty may be irregular.

Physical Requirements:

Requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Must be willing and able to travel between assigned clinic locations to provide on-site support, conduct staff meetings, and collaborate with clinic managers.
