Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader at Brush Hog Tree Care Inc. The role requires hands-on work in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader, you'll lead a 2-5 person tree care crew while managing safe and productive performance of all aspects of arboriculture, including:
Pruning trees
Rigging
Cabling and bracing
Removal of hazardous trees
Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)
Implementing work zone safety procedures
Performing and reporting job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks (i.e. tailgate safety meetings, job briefings at each job site, etc.)
Collaboratively working with Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
Tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
Mentoring and training employees
Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary
Drive company vehicles and equipment (as needed)
Assist aerial workers and tree care crew in all aspects of tree care and removal
Able to work with and without direct supervision
This is a senior-level role that reports directly to the General Foreman
Qualifications

A positive attitude and ability to participate within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to work year-round in all weather conditions.
Required: Valid class C driver’s license with a clean record
Required: Reliable transportation to the job site. Many of our job sites cannot be reached by public transportation, Uber, scooter, or bike. We serve the San Francisco Bay Area and greater Northern California Counties. This position is based out of La Honda, CA
Required: You must live within a 45 minute commute of La Honda, CA. Please calculate your morning commute using Google maps with an arrival time of 7:30AM. Preferred: Minimum 4 years experience in tree care or forestry
Preferred: Minimum 4 years experience climbing
Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
Preferred: Minimum 2 years of experience operating skid steers or excavators
Speaks/Reads English. Being bilingual is a plus.
Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field
