Description
Are you someone who can greet a client with a smile, calm down a nervous pet parent, and then head into the treatment area and jump in when the veterinary team needs an extra set of hands?
If so, we should talk!
Mid-Island Animal Hospital is looking for a Client Service Representative / Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a true hybrid position, with time spent both at the front desk and working alongside the medical team. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys the people side of veterinary medicine just as much as the patient side.
At the front desk, you’ll be one of the first people our clients see and an important part of keeping the hospital running smoothly. You’ll help with scheduling, check-in and check-out, answering phones, communicating with clients, processing payments, and making sure everyone knows what’s happening with their pet.
Then it’s time to switch gears.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll help the medical team with patient handling and restraint, room and treatment area upkeep, preparing patients and supplies, assisting with appointments and procedures, and generally doing whatever needs to be done to keep the day moving. You don’t need to choose between the front desk and the treatment area here. You’ll get to be part of both.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable around both people and pets, communicates well, stays reasonably calm when the phones are ringing and the schedule is doing its best impression of chaos, and genuinely enjoys being part of a veterinary team.
Previous veterinary hospital experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience in either a CSR or veterinary assistant role. We’re open to different levels of experience for the right person, though. What matters most is that you’re dependable, willing to learn, and understand that excellent patient care and excellent client service go hand in hand.
You should be comfortable multitasking, working as part of a team, and occasionally changing gears quickly. Veterinary medicine rarely sticks perfectly to the schedule, so flexibility and a good sense of humor go a long way.
This is an opportunity to build a role that uses both your client-service and patient-care skills. You’ll work alongside the veterinary team, interact with clients throughout their pets’ visits, and have the chance to keep learning rather than being stuck doing the same thing all day, every day.
If you like variety, enjoy being busy, and want a position where you can make a difference for both the two-legged and four-legged members of the practice, this could be a really good fit.
