GENERAL SUMMARY

To provide clerical and customer support for the Sheriff's Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transcribe reports, forms, and correspondence (Minimum 60 wpm required).
  • Answer incoming calls, provide information, or direct callers to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate information with staff and other government agencies.
  • Maintain and update various records and information systems.
  • Provide inmate financial accounting.
  • Greet and correspond with the public and public offices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required, plus two (2) additional years of college coursework.
  • One year of receptionist or clerical experience is desired.
  • Must possess exceptional office skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), strong computer literacy, and keyboarding skills (minimum typing speed of 60 wpm).
  • Experience accurately transcribing using standard transcription equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially.
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation and drug screen.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, or the legal field.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
