The Clerk receives, reviews, files, and scans pleadings, actions to restore capacity and terminate guardianship/conservatorship, motions for emergency/temporary relief, applications for relief, petitions for appointment of successor guardian/conservator, affidavits/certificates of service/, responsive pleadings, affidavits of default, guardian ad litem and examiner reports, restricted account agreements/bond, SLED/Credit reports, notices of hearing, and proposed orders submitted by counsel. The Clerk will draft orders appointing counsel, guardian ad litem, and examiner. The Clerk receives, reviews, files, and scans pleadings related to Estate Division litgation, including but not limited to actions for formal appointment of personal representatives, removal of personal representatives, probate of testamentary documents, petitions to contrue wills, petitions to sell real estate, etc. The Clerk will draft orders appointing counsel and guardian ad litem. The Clerk of Court will timely schedule hearings during regular court sessions at convenient times to accommodate citizens, attorneys, and departments that routinely participate in the Court system. The Clerk must have a working knowledge of zoom and other video platforms to schedule video hearings as needed. The Clerk of Court will maintain a current, comprehensive knowledge and awareness of applicable laws, regulations, principles, practices, trends, and advances relating to Probate Court, and will attend online and in person training and meetings as required. Performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in paralegal, business administration, or a related field required; supplemented by one year of experience in a court or legal environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver"s License. May be required to possess and maintain Paralegal and/or other certification(s) according to area of assignment.
