General Overview

Under general supervision, performs a variety of moderately difficult general office assignments; operates a variety of commonly utilized office equipment; receives and records payments; issues receipts; maintains records; completes routine documentation; aids other clerical employees.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.

Completion of secondary education supplemented by courses in office practices and procedures and business equipment operation, plus one (1) year of clerical experience or equivalent combinations of training and/or experience. May be required to meet bonding requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Advanced knowledge of office practices and procedures, department policies and procedures, English grammar and spelling, data entry and retrieval. Ability to carry out instructions, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, complete routine forms, respond to routine inquiries, comprehend simple sentences with common vocabulary, cooperate with co-workers and the general public. Job Duties

The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.

Performs a variety of moderately difficult office assignments (e.g., completes forms, files and retrieves documents, opens, sorts, reviews, and distributes mail, answers telephone and in person inquiries; provides information and assistance to the public, including the explanation of methods and procedures; directs calls and visitors to appropriate area; records documents; collects and reviews documents to verify accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards; prepares information for meetings). Operates a variety of commonly utilized office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, calculator, postage meter, etc.) to process and produce documentation and to post/record payments and retrieve information. Receives and records/posts payments (e.g. taxes, fees, assessments, etc.) balances receipts against records; calculates bills and verifies the accuracy of calculations; prepares reports on collections; prepares payment books/forms for periodic payments; provides notifications to outside agencies as required. Prepares routine operational reports; maintains statistical records; assists with the preparation of complex reports. Aids other clerical employees as required; attends training sessions; performs any and all duties of a Clerk I as necessary.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M.

Work Location: 175 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308

Temporarily located at 500 Grant St., Akron 44308 while Ohio Building is under construction
