    Reports to: Director for ESL & Bilingual Programs

    Duty Days: 228 Days

    Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

    Pay Grade: AS02

    Qualifications:

    Fluent in both oral and written English and Spanish

    College hours preferred

    High school diploma or GED required

    Ability to work with students and families

    Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

    Knowledge of ESL and bilingual student data requirements preferred

    Ability to meet established deadlines

    Primary Purpose:

    To assist the Director of ESL and Bilingual programs with the identification of emergent bilingual (EB) students who participate in ESL or Bilingual programs.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Review prior district data for students with a language other than English.
    • Prepare required documentation for Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings.
    • Support the daily operations of the EL District Testing Center, including interviewing students/families, administering EL language proficiency assessments, contacting prior Texas districts for records, and communicating with parents.
    • Assist with training on the administration of the state-identified language proficiency assessments.
    • Comply with federal, state and local policies and guidelines relating to ELs.
    • Assist the Coordinator for the EL District Testing Center & Parent Centers with daily operations.
    • Other duties as assigned.
