THE POSITION

Bring your efficiency, organization, and multitasking skills to the Department of Human Services! As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you will play a key part in supporting nursing operations that affect Torrance State Hospital. This role offers variety, teamwork, and the chance to make daily work easier for staff. This is a great choice for someone who enjoys helping others while keeping a busy workplace running smoothly!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps manage the flow of clerical work that supports Nursing Administration, Nursing Service, and Nursing Education across the hospital. It requires good judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information. As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Document Processing: Prepare, type, proofread, and distribute reports, forms, meeting notes, and confidential materials
  • Supervisory Support: Guide and assign tasks to Clerical Assistant 2 staff in the Nursing Office and patient care buildings
  • Office Coordination: Manage calls, schedule appointments, maintain files, and assist with timekeeping and staffing reports
  • Policy Management: Update and monitor nursing policy manuals and oversee preparation of draft policy documents
  • Administrative Assistance: Support the Chief Nurse Executive by preparing job postings, organizing correspondence, and tracking key deadlines
  • Equipment Oversight: Operate office machines safely and ensure needed supplies and equipment are ordered

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
