Overview
Operating as part of the Classroom Technology & Event Services team, the Classroom Technology & Media Specialist is responsible for consulting with faculty, students, and professional staff regarding the use of technology to support academic instruction, research, and university events. This role involves providing audio-visual support services for university classes, academic spaces, and events, including equipment setup, operation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair. The coordinator may also be responsible for updating digital signage and maintaining documentation related to system specifications and usage. Regular meetings with event coordinators to discuss scheduled events and AV needs are expected, along with the requirement for flexible work hours during peak seasons.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 11:30am-8:00pm. While the primary location of this role is 212 York Street; the Classroom Technology & Media Specialist will be stationed in one of several Zones on campus.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused AV environment.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain flexible and open to learning new technology.
Proven ability to multitask and handle multiple AV needs concurrently throughout the campus.
Expertise in working with video conferencing, webcasting, and course capture technologies such as Zoom, Skype, and Panopto.
Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage AV support.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Experience working in an academic environment.
CTS certification.
Experience providing support for all AV equipment, using both Mac and PC laptops (PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom).
Basic operational understanding of AV distribution and switching devices.
Proven ability to provide thorough technical support and address diverse AV needs efficiently.
