About the role
Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in accessing the academic curriculum and achieving their Individualized Education Program goals. This position focuses on providing direct instruction collaborating with general education teachers delivering specially designed instruction and ensuring compliance with all state and federal special education regulations.
The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement IEPs collect and maintain data support behavior and emotional needs and work closely with families multidisciplinary team members and community partners. The ideal candidate is organized compassionate skilled in instructional strategies and committed to supporting diverse learners in a positive and engaging environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid PA Instructional I Certificate in Special Education
- Knowledge of instructional technologies such as iPads to individualize instruction
- Understanding of the needs of students with disabilities including ADD emotional and behavioral needs
- Ability to build collaborative partnerships with families staff administrators and community agencies
- Strong communication organizational interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet all legal requirements including background checks and clearance documentation
- Applicants may be considered with alternative qualifications if deemed an acceptable substitute by the School
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement IEPs including present levels goals specially designed instruction and services
- Prepare Re-evaluation Reports for triennial review including academic and assessment histories
- Serve on multidisciplinary teams with counselors psychologists therapists and instructional staff
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress behavior and available support services
- Collaborate with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for students age fourteen and older
- Collect and maintain data to support interventions and monitor IEP goal progress
- Provide for the emotional social and physical needs of students
- Co-teach in general education settings and provide small group direct instruction
- Establish clear instructional objectives and communicate them to students
- Teach academic content using strategies such as multi-sensory learning repetition and phonetic instruction
- Support positive behavior systems and teach socially appropriate behavior based on IEPs
- Modify general education curriculum to meet student needs using a variety of techniques and technologies
- Plan and conduct instructional activities that promote exploration inquiry and engagement
- Assist teachers with behavior management strategies
- Review and evaluate student progress to assess instructional effectiveness
- Assist with data preparation for local state and federal reports
- Maintain compliance with School Board policies and state and federal regulations
- Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Special Education Director
Salary
This position offers a starting salary of $55,000 per year with final compensation determined by experience and qualifications.
