    Kindergarten Teacher - 2026-2027 Academic Year

    St. James Catholic School, Stratford

    OVERVIEW

    St. James School in Stratford, Connecticut is opening an additional Kindergarten Classroom. Therefore, we are hiring a Kindergarten Teacher beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with young children. We are looking for educators who want to work in a supportive, caring, and positive school environment!

    We are seeking a teacher with the following mindset and characteristics:

    • Strong love for early literacy and Reading
    • Understands children make mistakes and mistakes help children grow and learn
    • Makes a PRIORITY of creating a learning experience where children are curious, kind, and excited about learning
    • Very patient, understanding, and finds beauty in small moments
    • Really cares and loves children!
    • Uses intentional language and knows a teacher's words and actions with children MATTER
    • Is a positive influencer who adds positively to the school culture
    • Smiles, finds joy and purpose in their work!

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons with stated goals and objectives
    • Promotes a classroom environment that is positive, welcoming, and safe
    • Creates a highly engaging learning environment
    • Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of curriculum and elementary subject matter
    • Effectively manage children using research-based strategies and approaches that foster growth
    • Connect and communicate effectively with children
    • Organize an engaging space for learning
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge in your craft
    • Encourages family engagement
    • Communicate with parents
    • Be an active member of a faith community

    MINIMUM PROEFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline
    • Valid State Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject or in the process of attaining a Teaching Certificate

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Successful prior teaching in an elementary school
    • A Master's Degree in Elementary Education or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
