Birth to Three Coordinator (.5) and Special Education Pre-K Teacher (.5)
Position Description
Windham Early Childhood Center seeks an enthusiastic Special Education Teacher who will also serve as the Birth to Three Coordinator. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction to students with exceptionalities while coordinating Birth to Three referrals, transitions, and special education processes to support a seamless continuum of services for young children and their families. Essential Functions:
- Maintain and organize all incoming B-3 referrals from outside agencies (EASTCONN, Kidsteps, Beacon, etc).
- Coordinate transition meetings for incoming B-3 referrals with B-3 providers and communication of transition meeting findings with the team.
- Organization skills, maintenance of spreadsheets, communication with the special education department.
- Organize and schedule PPTS for incoming B-3 children
- Knowledge of CTSEDS to create referrals and PPT invitations
- Must have knowledge of the PPT process and special education laws.
- Knowledge of Child Find district responsibilities
- Coordination with area preschools WECC, New Heights, Valley Street, ECSU and community referrals.
- Initiate and coordinate 504 meetings and documentation in CTSEDS.
- Attend weekly meetings with the special education team to discuss B-3 referrals, ensure that appropriate staff are in attendance and facilitate B-3 PPT meetings.
- Coordinate special education meetings with Central Office special education administration.
- Organize and facilitate case conferences with regular education staff at least 3x a year.
- Support administration of DOTS with the special education team for new students. Enter data into the state website.
- Attend and support attendance of students with social workers and family liaisons.
- Attend monthly EASTCONN behavioral meetings with social workers and EHS staff.
- Organize and coordinate a monthly playgroup with the special education team.
- Collaborate and work closely with the special education team leader.
- Lesson plan and teach students with developmental disabilities
- Write IEPs, progress monitor and evaluation students with developmental disabilities
- Must be able to toilet train/diaper children
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals in the resource room.
- Support building based duties (bus, lunch and other duties assigned by admin)
- Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility
- All other duties assigned
Qualifications/Certificates:
- Appropriate CT Endorsement to teach (065 or 165).
- Experience working with a diverse student population,
- Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate

Days: Monday - Friday
Salary: In accordance with the WFT contract
This is a 10 month position (starts one week before and after school year calendar)
