AgriScience Teacher
Location: Glastonbury High School, Glastonbury Public Schools
FTE: 1.20 FTE
Position Overview:
Glastonbury ASTE Center, located at Glastonbury High School, is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging teacher for Agriscience. The successful candidate will deliver instruction and maintain continuity of learning in a well-established program, supporting students in both classroom and laboratory/shop settings.
Courses Assigned under 4 AgriScience Pathways:
- Natural Resources
- Plant Sciences
- Animal Science
- Agricultural Mechanics
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with a dynamic team of AgriScience educators to teach a variety of AgriScience education courses in accordance with state, national and local standards.
- Implement existing curriculum and lesson plans aligned to course standards and program expectations.
- Deliver instruction that integrates hands-on, experiential learning in both classroom and lab/shop environments.
- Supervise and ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and facilities in agricultural mechanics settings.
- Facilitate student learning in topics such as animal systems, basic agricultural principles, and applied mechanical skills.
- Assess student progress (including SAE) and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and department staff to support student success.
- Uphold all school and district policies, including safety protocols specific to agricultural education environments.
Qualifications:
- CT Certification Required
- CT Teaching Endorsement 040 - Agriculture, PreK-12
or
- CT Teaching Endorsement 041 - Vocational Agriculture, 7-12
