Class A CDL Driver Responsibilities
As a Class A CDL Driver, you will:
- Safely operate an assigned tractor-trailer on a dedicated retail account
- Complete daily delivery runs to national retail locations
- Make approximately 3–4 retail stops per load
- Return to the distribution center to reload
- Operate in a slip-seat environment
- Handle 100% no-touch freight
- Maintain accurate vehicle inspection reports, logs and required paperwork
- Follow dispatch instructions and scheduled delivery times
- Communicate with dispatch and support teams regarding routes and deliveries
- Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality
- Follow company policies and DOT safety and compliance requirements
Class A CDL Driver Requirements
To qualify, you must have:
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 6 months of recent tractor-trailer experience
- Residence within 40 miles of Opelika, Alabama
- No major moving violations within the past 3 years
- No at-fault accidents within the past 12 months
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen
- Ability to meet applicable DOT and company compliance requirements
- Reliable transportation to and from the distribution center
- Strong backing and maneuvering skills
- Ability to work a consistent night-shift schedule
