W2 job to a staffing company 

 

Responsibilities

Claims Investigation & Validation

• Investigate OS&D (Overage, Shortage, and Damage) claims, shipment refusals, and carrier disputes.

• Audit Proof of Delivery (POD), bills of lading (BOL), shipping documentation, and inspection photos to verify the legitimacy of claims.

• Research deductions, customer disputes, and overpayments to determine whether credit is warranted or whether chargebacks/repay letters need to be issued.

 

Carrier & 3PL Financial Recovery

• File and track freight claims with carriers, freight forwarders, and insurance underwriters.

• Negotiate settlements and recoveries according to carrier liability rules, contracts, and insurance coverage.

• Maintain and update claims aging reports to minimize outstanding balances.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Settlement

• Work closely with Warehouse Operations, Billing/Settlement, Customer Service, and Transportation teams to resolve operational discrepancies.

• Coordinate with Accounting and Finance teams to reconcile accounts receivable (AR)/accounts payable (AP) impacts from deductions and settlements.

 

Reporting & Root-Cause Analysis

• Track claim trends and metrics (e.g., claim frequency by carrier, product type, or region) to identify systemic operational bottlenecks.

• Recommend packaging, handling, or routing process enhancements to mitigate recurring cargo damage or loss.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in logistics and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Cello Logistics Platform, WMS/TMS).

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data reconciliation).

Key Competencies

• Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills for handling carrier and vendor disputes.

• High attention to detail and ability to interpret contracts and insurance guidelines.

• Good organizational skills.
