    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Director of Insurance and Enterprise Risk Management this position would be primarily responsible for managing the Company's insurance claims, including claims from workers comp, auto, property, general liability, and other coverages. The position will work closely with the General Counsel, Litigation Counsel, Finance Department, and other Company leaders. This person will be a key contributing member to the Company's overall legal and risk team.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the claim management across all lines of business with primary focus on casualty program

    • Avg 250 claims a year (and growing) and about $5+M of accrued value across multiple states nationally

    • Closely manage and direct third-party administrators/carriers with goal of cost control, proper medical and disability management, and timely resolution of claims

    • Actively Communicates with field leadership on claims and provide routine support on claim management to sites with a proactive customer service approach and attitude

    • Monitor reserves and allocated expenses from inception of claim to conclusion for adequacy and analysis for senior management

    • Manage first party physical damage claims and work directly with third party carriers to ensure timely reimbursement for damages

    • Manage third-party risk service providers, such as TPAs, Nurse Triage, etc.

    • Partner with General Managers and Safety Director to ensure the Return-to-Work Program is maximized and guidelines are followed to lower costs and keep employees at work

    • Coordinates with Director of Insurance and Enterprise Risk Management, Company Controller, and outside actuary for setting of proper Company reserves

    • Prepare and obtain settlement authority requests to site leadership and Board

    • Support safety department with injury management and corporate safety initiatives

    • Participate in claim reviews to ensure effective claim management

    • Respond to requests for production in WC and other disputes

    • Strategize with carrier and defense counsel for litigation and review reserve and settlement authority for approvals

    • Ability to comprehend and summarize large and complex amounts of information

    Skills, Abilities, and Requirements

    • 2-5 yrs. claims handling experience, 5+ years preferred
    • BS/BA degree preferred
    • Appropriate certification a plus (AIC, CWCA, etc.)
    • Preferred, but not required, experience gained in manufacturing or waste industry
    • Can easily develop productive business relationships and has a strong customer orientation

    • Strong Verbal and Written Communication abilities
    • Strong Microsoft Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Carrier Portals
