Job Summary

We are seeking a Civil Staff Engineering Technician - Solar to support engineering and design teams in developing high-quality technical deliverables for complex solar infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for preparing and modifying site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using industry-standard design software while applying civil engineering principles to deliver accurate and efficient project solutions.


Job Description

  • Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables under general direction
  • Prepare and modify site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase, and PV Farm
  • Apply civil engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts and deliverables
  • Utilize CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation and drawings
  • Review project requirements and determine the appropriate format and content for engineering deliverables
  • Ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, document control requirements, and company policies
  • Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines to support project development and information exchange
  • Provide technical guidance and review the work of other engineering professionals and technicians as needed
  • Assist with work assignments, schedule maintenance, and project coordination.
  • Support field activities and plant start-up activities when required
  • Promote continuous improvement by applying quality standards and sharing knowledge of emerging technologies and processes

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of related civil engineering technician experience
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience with Civil 3D grading
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Experience using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling software
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design principles, drafting standards, and applicable codes
  • Ability to perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and estimates
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Solar project experience preferred
  • Experience with PVcase and PV Farm software preferred

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Diploma or Certificate required.
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related field preferred.
