Job Description

Manage multiple civil construction projects from pre-construction through final closeout. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful project execution. Oversee Project Engineers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams to drive project performance. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, design consultants, municipal agencies, and project stakeholders. Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and procurement agreements. Monitor project costs, productivity, forecasting, and profitability to achieve financial objectives. Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior leadership and clients. Ensure compliance with project specifications, permits, contractual requirements, and quality standards. Identify and mitigate project risks while proactively resolving construction and operational challenges. Manage subcontractor performance, payment applications, and vendor relationships. Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and specialized services. Enforce company safety policies and ensure projects comply with OSHA and industry regulations. Review RFIs, submittals, schedules, cost reports, and project documentation. Support business development initiatives by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying future opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Civil Project Manager should have: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5-10+ years of project management experience within heavy civil construction, infrastructure, roadway, utility, site development, or public works projects. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects ranging from $5M to $100M+ in value. Strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, scheduling, cost management, and risk mitigation. Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors. Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, and regulatory agencies. Knowledge of New Jersey DOT, municipal, county, and utility construction standards is highly desirable. Professional Engineer (PE) license or PMP certification is advantageous but not required. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey.
