Civil Construction Project Manager

Job Description

Manage multiple civil construction projects from award through completion. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary. Oversee contract administration, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation. Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and quality standards. Review and approve subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and invoices. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities and resolve field-related issues. Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to senior management and clients. Manage project financial performance, including forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and profitability analysis. Support business development efforts by assisting with estimating, proposal reviews, and client relationship management. Mentor and develop project engineers, assistant project managers, and field personnel.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. 5-10+ years of project management experience within heavy civil, sitework, infrastructure, utilities, roadway, bridge, or public works construction. Proven track record managing projects ranging from $5M to $50M+ in value. Strong understanding of civil construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration. Experience working with municipal, county, state, and private-sector clients. Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and forecasts. Knowledge of New Jersey construction regulations, permitting processes, and safety requirements is highly desirable. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Northern New Jersey.
