JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Engineer plays a key role in managing the technical aspects of civil engineering projects, including design, permitting, and construction oversight. This position supports site development and infrastructure projects from concept to completion, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with Florida regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Perform comprehensive site evaluations, including zoning and due diligence reviews.

·         Design site layouts, grading plans, and utility infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater) using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

·         Develop engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents for public and private projects.

·         Manage permitting processes with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with state and local requirements.

·         Perform hydrology studies and stormwater management planning using industry standard stormwater modeling software.

·         Provide construction phase support, conducting site visits and resolving technical issues.

·         Maintaing open communication with clients and project stakeholders, ensuring project requirements are met.

·         Collaborate with and oversee subcontractors and technical consultants as needed to complete project objectives.

·         Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, staying updated on compliance changes and addressing any permitting challenges.

·         Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff on best practices and project methodologies.

·         Review project deliverables to ensure quality and technical accuracy, including calculations, drawings, and reports.

·         Track and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources throughout the project lifecycle.

·         Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/EXPERTISE

·         Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

·         Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida.

·         Minimum of 4 years of civil engineering experience, with expertise in site design, stormwater management, and permitting.

·         Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling programs, and other relevant engineering software.

·         Strong knowledge of Florida permitting processes, regulations, and engineering standards.

·         Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
