ENGINEER I JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS USDI is seeking an Engineer I to join our Shelbyville, Kentucky team. The Engineer I, under direction from hiring manager and senior engineers, performs project-based engineering, interacts with other engineers, clients, and officials for project tasks. The Engineer I will have field responsibilities including site visits, surveys, and inspections. Field responsibilities include some travel as well as the ability to maneuver field job site conditions. Specific Job Duties may include: Perform field inspections, equipment testing and troubleshooting, technical support, and more. Performing basic natural gas design calculations of piping, pipelines, regulator stations, relief valves and more. This opportunity is with a growing engineering consulting firm supporting utility and natural gas infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Job Duties:Perform field inspections, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and technical support activities. Conduct basic natural gas design calculations for piping, pipelines, regulator stations, relief valves, and related systems. Prepare and maintain engineering drawings and documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other CAD software. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering required. 0-3 years of engineering experience. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work both in the field and office environments. Comfortable working outdoors and traveling as needed. Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical codes, standards, and manuals. Experience with AutoCAD or CAD software; Civil 3D experience is preferred. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Utility, natural gas, or project management experience is a plus. Experience with documentation standards, material specifications, and bills of material (BOMs) is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Additional Information:Approximately 40-50% field work and 50-60% office work. Travel includes day trips and occasional overnight stays. Company-provided vehicle available for local travel. Extensive training program including technical modules, testing, and field qualification requirements. Two-step interview process consisting of a virtual interview followed by an onsite interview.
