Civil Estimator

Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $80,000 – $120,000 base salary (commensurate with experience) + performance bonus
Industry: Civil Construction (Public & Private Projects)

About the Company

We are helping a Houston-based civil contractor specializing in public infrastructure and private commercial site development projects. Their portfolio includes roadway construction, underground utilities, earthwork, drainage, and municipal improvements across the Greater Houston area.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for public and private civil projects

• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, and drainage

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing

• Prepare competitive and accurate cost estimates and bid proposals

• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during preconstruction

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed

• Track bid results and maintain estimating database

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in civil construction

• Experience bidding private or public sitework required

• Strong knowledge of Houston-area subcontractors and suppliers

• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid or similar)

• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
