Civil/Environmental Estimator

Our client is a well-established and growing environmental and civil construction contractor recognized for delivering complex site remediation, environmental restoration, earthwork, demolition, and heavy civil projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and technical expertise, the company partners with public and private sector clients to execute projects that improve infrastructure and protect the environment. Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are looking to add an experienced Civil/Environmental Estimator to their team in Mayville, NJ.

The Civil/Environmental Estimator will play a key role in developing competitive bids and cost estimates for a variety of environmental remediation and civil construction projects. This individual will collaborate closely with operations, project management, and executive leadership to evaluate opportunities and support business growth. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil and environmental construction projects.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations.
  • Develop labor, equipment, and material pricing estimates.
  • Analyze project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Participate in bid strategy meetings and proposal development.
  • Coordinate with project managers and field personnel to validate production assumptions.
  • Assist in preparing scopes of work, bid packages, and project schedules.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
  • Support project handoff activities upon award.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within civil construction, environmental remediation, heavy highway, earthwork, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary: $130,000 - $160,000+ (commensurate with experience)
