Civil Engineering Department Manager – Land Development
Location: Tampa, FL
Pay: $145K - $175K
 
Description
This position combines team leadership, project oversight, client development, and financial management. You will lead and mentor civil engineering staff, oversee land development projects, support key client relationships, and help drive the continued growth and profitability of the Tampa operation.
 

Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of civil engineers, project managers, designers, and technical staff
  • Oversee civil/site and land development projects from proposal through design and delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and support on project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations
  • Manage department performance, including revenue, profitability, utilization, backlog, billing, and accounts receivable
  • Support and develop Project Managers while monitoring project and team performance
  • Lead and support business development, client relationships, proposals, contracts, and new project opportunities
  • Coordinate resources and workload across the local team and regional offices
  • Participate in client, agency, and project meetings as needed
  • Oversee QA/QC and ensure projects meet technical and company standards
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 14+ years of civil engineering, site development, or land development experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 7+ years of experience with proposals, project budgets, financial management, and team or department operations
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams
  • Strong background managing land development/site civil projects
  • Experience with client management and business development
  • Strong understanding of project financials, including budgets, profitability, utilization, billing, and collections
