Civil Engineer Trainee \u2013Highway Section\n \nThe Burlington County Engineer Department is seeking candidates for the entry level position of Civil Engineer Trainee in our Highway Section.\n \nCandidates who apply for this position should have an affinity for roadway design and construction management/inspection supported by an academic record that demonstrates satisfactory completion of coursework related to:\n\n Roadway Design / Survey Layout \n Pavement Design\n Stormwater System Design\n Transportation Safety Systems\n Construction Project Management / Construction Cost Estimating\n \nCivil Engineer Trainees work directly with experienced Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and project managers who build upon a candidate's previous academic knowledge by exposing them to actual construction and design projects where their academic skills can be used to solve real-world problems. \n \nFor more information regarding examples of work for this position, please refer to:\n \nhttp://info.csc.state.nj.us/jobspec/14090.htm\n \nExperience: Entry level Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong work ethic and a willingness to invest in themselves as evidenced by academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, public service and/or past work history. The position is subject to a 12-month working test period upon which successful candidates will be promoted to Assistant Engineer level with a commensurate increase in salary.\n \nCandidates in possession of an E.I.T. certificate issued by the N.J. Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors will be given first preference. Candidates without EIT certification are expected to pursue and obtain their EIT certificate as part of an initial 12 month working test period. Candidates with prior civil engineering related work experience including Co-Op's or internships also preferred. \n \nEducation: Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required. Graduation/Completion of Degree by the end of the current semester is acceptable at the time of application. \n \nApplicants who graduated from non-ABET accredited colleges or university must submit transcripts that have been evaluated by a recognized evaluation service as recommended by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors which can be found at:\n \nhttps://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/pels/Documents/Evaluation-of-non-ABET-Accredited-Education-Credentials.pdf.\n \nSalary and Benefits: \n\n Starting Salary: $65,088. \n Overtime for work performed in excess of 40 hours per week.\n Paid vacation, sick leave, personal leave, and holidays.\n Pension benefits through PERS (Public Employees Retirement System).\n Medical, dental, prescription, and eye care benefits.\n Voluntary deferred compensation program.\n Tuition reimbursement for continuing education.\n \nLocation: The position will be in the Office of the County Engineer at 1900 Briggs Road, Mt.
