Description

Our client, a civil and structural engineering company, is hiring a Civil Engineer to support design and construction projects across the Pittsburgh metro area. This role covers site development, roadway, and infrastructure projects from initial design through construction administration.

The position requires hands-on coordination with contractors, municipal reviewers, and internal design teams. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple project phases at once and communicating technical requirements clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

This is a full-time, on-site role based out of the company's downtown Pittsburgh office, with occasional travel to job sites within a 50-mile radius.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Perform site grading, drainage, and utility design calculations
  • Coordinate with surveyors, contractors, and municipal agencies
  • Review construction submittals and respond to RFIs
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and compliance
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting technical documentation
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their design work
  • Maintain project schedules and communicate status updates to clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 5 or more years of civil engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with local and state permitting processes
  • Strong understanding of stormwater management and site grading principles
  • Valid driver's license for site visits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
