About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer – Land Development to oversee commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects from initial planning through construction and completion.
This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong project management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities while ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage land development projects from design and permitting through construction and completion.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and resource planning.
- Coordinate civil engineering designs, site plans, grading, stormwater systems, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Manage contractors, consultants, bids, contracts, invoices, and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, permits, and development requirements.
- Conduct site visits, monitor construction progress, and resolve project challenges.
- Maintain quality standards and facilitate the timely completion of development projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in land development, covering commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Virginia, or the ability to obtain licence reciprocity within six months.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Experience with project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera.
- Excellent communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred: OSHA 30 certification.
