Job Title: Civil Construction Estimator

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join a growing Project Management Team at a well-established construction company experiencing rapid expansion. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in Heavy Highway Construction and expertise in preparing accurate and comprehensive project estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed take-offs of construction documents.
- Review construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid using state and federal specifications.
- Obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors for materials and labor as needed.
- Prepare estimates by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs throughout the project life cycle.
- Develop and maintain company resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements.
- Help review bidding decisions for upcoming projects.
- Communicate plans and contract terms to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Project Management Team to manage the financial aspects of projects.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with HCSS (Heavy Bid), AutoCAD, and P6 (Primavera) or other estimating/scheduling software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Working knowledge of all phases of Civil Construction.
- Strong contracts and plan-reading skills.
- Established relationships with suppliers and subcontractors in the area.
- Field experience in construction projects.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
- Minimum 10 years of Heavy Highway Construction experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in estimation work.
- Stable work history and proven leadership experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in an office environment where dogs are present.
