Job Title: Civil CAD TechnicianJob Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Civil Technician for our Indianapolis office location. The focus areas include water, wastewater, and stormwater disciplines. Project types encompass treatment facilities, utility distribution, and stormwater and sanitary collection systems. The Civil Technician II (CT-II) is an intermediate-level position responsible for creating two-dimensional (2D) and graphical representations of designs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Civil Designers, and Civil Technicians to create graphic representations of projects.
  • Exhibit a general to intermediate technical knowledge of applicable road, sanitary & storm sewers, water distribution, treatment plant layout, building detailing, and site grading projects.
  • Use experience and minimal supervision to create accurate construction drawings, including layout, geometry, utility, grading, profiles, cross-sections, summary tables, and other related plans according to company, client, or regulatory agency standards.
  • Create complex Architectural or Structural details using information provided by Project Managers and Engineers.
  • Create Maintenance of Traffic and Detour plans.
  • Utilize a basic to intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D modules to incorporate and annotate Civil 3D design models into construction drawings.
  • Assist Civil Technicians and other staff with the printing and assembly of construction drawing plan sets.
  • Maintain and organize all project drafting-related documentation including computerized data and files.
  • Mentor and train Civil Technicians and staff as required.
  • Complete assignments on time and within budget.
  • Perform duties that may include structural detailing, document QC/QA, field investigations, basic computations for cost estimates/quantity takeoffs, or other non-technical duties.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Follow company QC/QA procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related drafting software.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with Civil 3D.
  • Professional experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, treatment plant, site grading, and storm/sewer projects.
  • Client-facing experience and ability to effectively present information to the public, clients, and customers.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering Technology/Drafting or a similar program.
  • Ability to use Revit and familiarity with PlantCAD.
  • Experience with constructability analysis and site development.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily indoors with the typical setup including a personal cubical and CAD station. The role may require extended periods of sitting and occasional outdoor work for site visits or reconnaissance trips. The workplace offers a casual dress code, promoting a comfortable, low-stress culture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
