Please note this is a limited-term position scheduled to end March 31, 2029, and is contingent upon continued funding.
Under direction of the City Manager's Office of Violence Intervention and Prevention, responsible for incident response to engage very high-risk individuals subject to violence; offers support and services, discourage retaliation, build relationships with victim, family, and victim's network; respond to various locations to contact individuals referred as high risk clients; coordinate, attend, and/or facilitate community events in neighborhoods with high rates of violence; establish a positive presence in high risk areas; and engage high-risk individuals and groups to offer support; and performs related work as required.
Representative Duties
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of the positions essential duties. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Responds to call outs for incidents of violence at any time of day, including immediate emergency responses as directed, to provide community resources, advocate for program enrollment, and build relationships; Makes initial contact with very high-risk individuals and assess and coordinate resources/services; Conducts proactive outreach in identified high-risk areas to identify individuals involved in violence and to build strong relationships with those individuals, residents, businesses, and community groups; Intervenes in potential conflicts by facilitating communication and advocacy for programs that diffuse violence; and invite them to attend a Community Safety meeting.
