    City Clerk / Finance Director

    Position Type: Full-Time

    Salary: Competitive, based on qualifications and experience

    The City of Porterdale is seeking a highly organized and experienced professional to serve as City Clerk/Finance Director. This key leadership position oversees the City's financial operations, maintains official records, and serves as Clerk to the Mayor and City Council.

    Essential Duties

    • Serve as Clerk to the Mayor and City Council, including attending meetings and preparing official minutes.
    • Maintain and preserve city ordinances, resolutions, contracts, records, and the official city seal.
    • Coordinate public hearing notices, meeting advertisements, and bid publications.
    • Oversee municipal elections, including election notices, poll worker coordination, and reporting requirements.
    • Manage the City's treasury operations and serve as custodian of municipal funds.
    • Assist with the preparation and administration of the annual operating and capital budgets.
    • Maintain the general ledger and oversee financial reporting for all city funds.
    • Prepare monthly financial reports and monitor budget performance.
    • Coordinate property tax processes, millage rate advertisements, and related reporting.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience in municipal government, finance, accounting, or public administration.
    • Two or more years of management or supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of municipal finance, budgeting, accounting principles, and public administration.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
    • Ability to become bonded.
