The Evaluation and Education Research team at the CIRES Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation is looking for an on-call hourly researcher to support their program evaluation and science education research work. The role supports and collaborates with the CEEE research and evaluation team on the design, implementation, and reporting of program evaluations undertaken by CEEE. Program evaluation includes curriculum development projects, professional development programs, informal education initiatives, training programs, and synthesis centers. The Program Evaluator will also be responsible for input, organization, analysis of and reporting on evaluation data. An ideal candidate would have a background or interest in education or social sciences, a basic understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods, experience working in R and/or excel, and excellent writing skills.

  • Assists with data cleaning, entry, and visualization (20%)
  • Develops and sets up surveys in Qualtrics (5%)
  • Conducts Interviews and focus groups (15%)
  • Analyzes qualitative data, uses qualitative coding techniques (15%)
  • Analyzes quantitative data (including website and social media analytics) (25%)
  • Writes reports (20%)

  • This hourly position is currently funded via grant funds. This is an on-call position with varying hours. We expect that the person hired in this role will work, on average, around 10 hours per week within the schedule of Monday through Friday, between 9 am and 5 pm US Mountain Time. No benefits are offered with this role.
  • We would like the candidate hired in this position to start work as soon as possible and by November 1, 2026.
  • Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position. Candidates working in the United States through a visa or a work permit or needing sponsorship now or in the future are not eligible for hire in this role.

  • The hiring rate for this on-call hourly as needed position is $24.35 to $34.60 per hour. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and determined based on our CIRES internal career track classification. Benefits are not offered with the position.
  • This position can be offered as hybrid or fully remote. The successful candidate is expected to provide a well-equipped work environment for themselves when not working at the University of Colorado Boulder campus. For fully remote modality, candidates must be located within +/- 2 hours of the US Mountain time zone and reside in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (education, environmental science, psychology).
  • Experience working in R and/or Excel.
