    Summary

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Para Educator at Cascade High School. This full-time position involves supporting students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and families to foster an inclusive atmosphere that promotes academic and social growth.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
    • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects and activities.
    • Support students in developing academic, social, and life skills.
    • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting findings to the teacher.
    • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization.
    • Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and promoting respect among peers.
    • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective support for students.
    • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
    • Assist with personal care and daily living activities as needed, ensuring the health and safety of students.
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to all school policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in special education or a related field is preferred.
    • Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is highly desirable.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing situations.
    • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational software and technology.
    • Understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus.
    • Must pass background checks and any required assessments as mandated by the school district.
