    First Christian Church is an independent Christian church with a growing congregation averaging a weekly attendance of 1,300 people. Located in suburban Elizabethtown, Kentucky, our church is served by a team of twelve full-time staff members, including eight pastoral staff, along with numerous part-time support staff. Our campus also includes a thriving preschool and daycare ministry that serves families throughout our community.

    Elizabethtown is one of the fastest-growing communities in Kentucky, with a current population of approximately 35,000 residents. Significant economic development and new industry investments are expected to fuel substantial growth over the next several years, creating unique opportunities for ministry and outreach. As our community expands, we believe God is positioning our church to reach new families and raise up a generation of children who are deeply rooted in Christ and actively engaged in His mission.

    Position type: full-time

    First Christian Church is a seeking a new full-time Children's Minister/Director. The Children's Minister/Director will provide leadership, vision, and oversight for a thriving children's ministry that helps young people become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. This person will create environments, relationships, and opportunities that encourage kids to grow in their faith, develop meaningful connections, and actively live out the Gospel.

    We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for kids and a deep love for Jesus and His Church. The ideal candidate will be an engaging leader, a strong communicator, and a gifted organizer who can effectively balance relational ministry with administrative responsibilities. Most importantly, we hope to find someone who is spiritually mature, humble, self-motivated, dependable, and excited to serve as a collaborative member of a healthy ministry team.

    Responsibilities include:

    • General

    • Oversee and maintain a high level of relevance and excellence in all aspects of the Children's Ministry including regular programming and special events.

    • Provide leadership and oversight to all aspects of the Children's Ministry including the Pre-K Director and the Children's Ministry Administrative Assistant.

    • Children

    • Mentor children and parents, and provide counseling and spiritual direction that aligns with biblical principles.

    • Preach and teach biblically sound lessons and sermons.

    • Volunteers

    • Recruit, train, develop and oversee a team of volunteers to work in all aspects of Children's Ministry.

    • Ensure adequate volunteer support and adult-to-children ratios.

    • Lead, inspire and manage your team of volunteers while developing their heart for ministry.

    • Provide spiritual leadership and genuine care for the wellbeing of your team of volunteers.

    • Church Staff/Leadership Team

    • Serve as a family advocate. On a regular basis, educate and enlighten the congregation

    about the hopes, concerns and needs of families in our church and community.

    • Collaborate with church leaders in planning, developing and implementing all aspects of a balanced and engaging Children's Ministry.

    • Utilize resources and make recommendations for developing the Children's Ministry programming.

    • Collaborate with church staff members in a cohesive and open team environment giving special attention to cooperation with the Children's Ministry.

    • Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Executive or Senior Minister.

    • Attend staff meetings, along with any other meetings designated by your direct supervisor or needed to fulfill your job duties.

    • Administrative

    • Compile, propose and manage the Children's Ministry budget and strive to operate within its parameters.

    • Ensure that accurate records of participation are maintained.

    • Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents and congregation in a timely manner utilizing available resources (email, website, e-newsletter, app, social media, etc.).

    • Other Expectations

    • If ordained into the ministry, share in the responsibility of other ministry tasks as needed such as hospital calling, weddings, funerals, preaching, counseling etc.

    • For employees who are just beginning their ministry at FCC, we ask for a five year commitment to serving at First Christian in the ministry area for which you are being hired.
