Childcare Worker Compensation $15 hour 401k with 4% Employer match
Summary of Position
A childcare worker at our church provides a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children feel loved and cared for while their families engage in worship and ministry. Through patience, warmth, and attentiveness, they reflect Christ’s love and support the spiritual well-being of both children and parents.
Essential Functions
Provide Safe and Attentive Care – Ensure each child’s physical safety through active supervision, proper procedures, and age-appropriate care at all times.
Create a Nurturing Environment – Offer warmth, patience, and encouragement so children feel welcomed, valued, and emotionally secure.
Communicate with Parents and Team Members – Share relevant information about a child’s needs, behavior, or concerns while working collaboratively with other caregivers.
Support Development and Routine – Engage children in appropriate activities, follow established schedules, and assist with basic needs such as snacks, play and transitions.
Other Key Responsibilities
Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching or mentoring, in order to grow as a leader and servant of Christ.
Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.
Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships and service to others.
Contribute to a culture of grace, care and prayer by being available to support, encourage and pray with staff and volunteers and congregants as appropriate.
Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the service or event
Welcome families warmly and assist with child check-in
Receive, document, and follow parent instructions for each child
Ensure proper staffing by accepting children only when another caregiver is present
Provide attentive, interactive, and age-appropriate care
Support a Christ-centered environment that reflects God’s love to each child
Assist and actively participate in lessons, crafts, games, music, and activities
Maintain a clean and orderly room, including toy sanitization and end-of-day cleanup
Change diapers in accordance with established procedures
Remain in assigned areas unless authorized by a supervisor
Release children only to authorized adults with proper verification
Follow all safety, evacuation, and child protection policies
Respect church facilities and maintain appropriate conduct at all times
PreferredQualifications
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience with infant to preschool aged children. | Active participation in a Christian church, preschool or daycare facility encouraged.
Spiritual Development
Support and model individual spiritual formation i.e. Worship, Grow and Serve. (Weekly worship, prayer, scripture reading, small group, volunteering/service, etc.).
