This is a Labor Intensive position which requires a drug and physical exam for employment as well as receipt of a Negative TB Test.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist in meeting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of a group of young children and model for CDEC students' appropriate teaching and care-giving practices.

This is accomplished by assisting in writing and implementing daily activity plans; by helping children with physical skills, self-esteem, social, cognitive, and communication skills and observing children for developmental milestones.

Minimum Qualifications

Twelve (12) credit hours in Child Development or Early Education OR a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (Submission of transcripts or CDA is required).

Six (6) months teaching experience in a center-based child care setting OR six (6) months of closely related teaching experience with children 0-8 years.

Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification (Documentation of current certification is required prior to first day of employment).

Food Handler's Certificate (Documentation of current certification is required prior to first day of employment).

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of Texas Child Care Minimum Standards and developmentally appropriate teaching and care-giving practices for children 18 months through 4 years.

Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization, including data entry, receptionist duties, customer service, word processing and general clerical duties.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in communicating with other staff, parents, and DMC students and faculty and in modeling appropriate language, vocabulary, and writing for children.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
