    Preschool Assistant – Job Description

    Position Summary:
    The Preschool Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This role assists with daily classroom activities, supervision, instruction, and maintaining a positive atmosphere that supports each child’s growth.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.

    • Help supervise children to ensure safety, engagement, and appropriate behavior at all times.

    • Support learning through participation in small groups, center time, and one-on-one interactions.

    • Assist with preparing materials, setting up activities, and cleaning up the classroom.

    • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

    • Help with diapering, toileting, and personal care as needed.

    • Follow Creative Curriculum or other program curriculum and classroom routines.

    • Assist in completing observations and documentation as guided by the Lead Teacher.

    • Support inclusive practices for children with diverse needs, abilities, and cultures.

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.

    • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.

    • Follow all licensing regulations, program policies, and safety procedures.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.

    • Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting is preferred.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.

    • Strong communication, patience, and reliability.

    • Must meet state background check, health, and training requirements.

    Work Schedule:

    • Hours and schedule may vary depending on program needs.

    • May assist in extended-care or summer programs as required.
