Job Details:
Coordinates delivery of health care services to accomplish diagnosis and treatment. Administers financial, physical and human resources to provide medical services in radiological sciences. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Assures appropriate patient care management and adjusts daily operations to meet the needs of a changing working environment. Responsibilities
- Assigns staff and workload requirements respecting changing priorities in daily operations
- Working knowledge and the ability to monitor the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated down time, and documents the effects on patient care with regard to radiographic, fluoroscopic, digital, and angiographic equipment.
- Knowledge of practice of radiation safety, (alara). Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Participates in the radiation safety committee on a rotational basis. Demonstrates an understanding of the therapeutic application of radionuclides, as well as special problems encountered in patient handling and care.
- Oversees the performance of the established standards of care on a continuous basis. Consistently produces high quality studies to include pertinent anatomy, evidence of collimation, appropriate positioning and exposure factors.
- Controls inventory, care for and purchase of supplies respecting areas of responsibility.
- Assists in the evaluation of staff, provides counsel, monitors performance, provides guidance and constructively influences staff morale.
- Patient assessment including monitoring of the patient's condition and assuming the responsibility for provision of physical or psychological needs during procedures. Provides patient education and demonstrated the ability to explain both pre and post procedural instructions.
- Disseminates and assures compliance with department and institution policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Patient assessment/monitor patient condition during procedures, i.e. trauma, special procedures, and patients with special needs.
- Coordinates practical instruction, in-service, departmental orientation for all Medical Imaging staff. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department through communication either written or verbal pertaining continued patient activity, and other tasks always recognizing patient confidentiality.
- Takes active role in departmental leadership.
- Rotates On-Call.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited Radiology, and/or Ultrasound program.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience preferred in OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts and vascular sonography.
Training/License:
- Cross training into Ultrasound from Diagnostic Imaging, and from Ultrasound into other modalities is acceptable if licensure permits.
- Applicants must be registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS/ARRT in OB/GYN OR Abdominal OR Vascular Sonography
Other:
- Memberships in professional Organizations. Must keep current CMEs for licensure.
- ARDMS Registry is mandated for ACR certification, employees must comply with ACR regulations.
