The President & Chief Medical Officer provides executive leadership for the physician organization, overseeing clinical operations, physician performance, quality initiatives, and strategic planning. This role partners with executive leadership to ensure high-quality diagnostic services, regulatory compliance, and physician engagement while supporting organizational growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the physician organization and clinical operations.
- Develop physician staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
- Promote clinical quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor physician performance, productivity, and service standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice requirements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
- Support budgeting, workforce planning, and physician resource allocation.
- Mentor physician leaders and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of diagnostic pathology experience.
- At least 5 years of physician leadership or medical director experience.
- Experience managing physician teams and clinical operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with executive leadership in a healthcare environment preferred.
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited pathology residency program.
Certifications & Licensure
- Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) or an applicable pathology subspecialty.
- Current, unrestricted medical license or ability to obtain licensure in the applicable state(s).
